A Tale Of Two Meetings With Mr Palin
A few days ago we reported on R S McCain?s impromptu meeting with Todd Palin, in which Mr Palin accepted the position of having to trust a reporter he didn?t know, but who had been vouched for in good faith by recent candidate for Lieutenant Governorship Eddie Burke. It was not a trust which was breached by McCain, who noted the happiness of the domestic situation at the Palin home, that Mr Palin took time to emphasise his wife?s achievements with ?a mastery of details?, and emphasised the practicality of his own role in the recent extending of the Palin family home.McCain wrote about the meeting at ?The American Spectator? and at his own blog (TheOtherMcCain). He supported the posts with a photograph he had taken of Todd and Trig, and one of himself sitting on Todd?s snowmachine; suggesting that the meeting was a successful one, with trust evident on all sides. McCain?s ?scoop? was congratulated widely by his readers, not least for the manner of McCain?s professionalism in a week when the lack of that quality by Palin detractor Michael Gross gained widespread attention.Sometime after his meeting with McCain, Todd Palin had another unexpected meeting, this time with Alaska blogger Phil Munger, who says he hadn?t spoken with Todd for 8 to 10 years. Munger re-introduced himself to Mr Palin, cried guilt-by-association ?Raaaaacism? to him about R S McCain, and then went home to blog about the event.Munger summarised the exchange with Mr Palin for his readers and added in Comments about the post that there was no tension in the chance meeting. Certainly, to judge by Munger?s summary it would seem that Mr Palin was a model of calm throughout the exchange, but that did nothing to dissuade Munger from calling Mr Palin and R S McCain limp d***heads in the title of the post. Quite why isn?t made clear. You?ll recall that Phil Munger is a man with close ties to the Alaska Democrats, that it was he who in 2008 called together the liberal bloggers in Alaska in order to hound Sarah Palin, that earlier this year he referred to Governor Palin in vile, sexually aggressive, misogynistic terms,(see here and here) and that he was instrumental in helping Joe McGinnis settle in next door to the Palins.Munger is a close friend of Shannyn Moore, the woman who provided introductions and contacts for the discredited Michael Gross.People like Munger and Moore, who both hound the Palins, regard themselves as guardians of Alaskan hospitality and the Alaska Spirit....bile-filled and extended to all the Palins and their associates; witness Munger?s recent description of Senate nominee Joe Miller as a ?Teabagger?.Though he has no need to explain himself on the back of what is another gratuitous Unwelcome To Alaska attack by a well known Palin-hating obsessive, McCain makes himself clear:?The idiocy of the accusation that I am a ?white supremacist? ought to be obvious: What, exactly, does ?white supremacist? mean in 2010? Have I ever advocated any such policy? Do I hatefully derogate non-whites or espouse some bizarre theory of racial superiority?I do not, and never have.? (more here)
