Jeff Perry Runs Away from His Palin Comments But Why Did the Boston Media Care in the First Place?; UPDATED: Perry's a Romney Man

Jeff Perry, the Massachusetts GOP nominee for Massachusetts' Tenth Congressional District, has run away from his comments about Governor Palin:Perry later said it was not the ?best choice of words? to describe the Tea Party megastar.?I supported her for vice president. I think she?s a tremendous personality,? he told the Herald.A conservative, Perry insisted he wasn?t distancing himself from Palin, who could become a cudgel to attack the GOP candidate in the hands of Democratic foe Norfolk District Attorney William Keating.?I go to Tea Party meetings. I?m not trying to separate myself from the grassroots Tea Party movement,? Perry said. But he said he wants to focus on local economic issues that impact the lives of those in his 10th congressional district rather than national political movements. Why did the Boston media care about what this guy had to say about Governor Palin in the first place? At this moment, this "story" is on the front-page of the websites for the Boston Herald and Boston Globe. Perhaps the Boston Herald news team, which is distinguishable from its editorial staff, has run out of Zogby polls to cite.Update by Doug: A little research uncovers at least one of the reason's behind Jeff Perry's attack on Governor Palin and the Tea Party. Can you say Mitt Romney?
